Other Scholarship Opportunities

About the Awards

The Cal Aggie Alumni Association is proud to offer additional scholarship opportunities to current students. Please review below the criteria and information on our Shontz, Garrison and 5A Awards.

African and African American Alumni Association (5A) Award

The African and African American Alumni Association (5A) is a chapter within the Cal Aggie Alumni Association that through giving, mentorship and volunteerism, helps UC Davis students. In 2016 the 5A Award was created to help students pay their way through college and to assist in enhancing their UC Davis experience.

Aggie Parent and Family Scholarship

The UC Davis Parent and Family Program was created to foster a sense of community among all UC Davis Parents. The parent council within the program fundraised in 2015, 2016 and 2017 to help establish the first scholarship in honor of the Aggie Parent and Family Program. Second, third or fourth year students are welcome to apply for this one time scholarship opportunity.

Shontz/Garrison Awards

These two awards are named from two very distinguished alumni Howard B. Shontz and Carl L. Garrison.

Mr. Shontz was a 1941 graduate of UC Davis. After a few years in the Unites States Army, he and his wife moved to Davis where Mr. Shontz began his lengthy career in student services at the university. He held positions at Davis, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and the systemwide office in Oakland.

Mr. Garrison was a prominent rancher and alumnus of UC Davis. He was past president of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, former president of the California Beef Council, and past Chairman of the Grand National Junior Livestock Exposition.
