Scottish Isles & Norwegian Fjords
May 17 - 25, 2018

Travel in the wake of early Viking explorers, cruising into ports accessible only by small ship amid spectacular landscapes in this seafaring region steeped in history and cultural richness.

For many years, UC Davis alumni and friends have discovered the world on Aggie Adventures. Time and time again, we hear from our travelers that their fondest travel memories involve the human element—fellow Aggie travelers, lecturers, guides, staff and the local community members we encounter on our programs. Aggie Adventures travelers have friends all over the world.

Exploring the globe with a spirit of relationship building is the foundation of every Aggie Adventures tour. Together we delve into the art, music, culture, industry, politics and community life of regions worlds apart from our own, getting to know the heart and soul of a place from the most credible source—the people who live there. Their mutual interest in our way of life often leads to rich cultural exchanges.

Our programs this year feature a new group of destinations highlighting many great cities and sights. We have brought back some of our most popular programs, such as China and Italy. Additionally, we have options for those who want to verge off the beaten path to some incredible destinations as well.

We hope you will consider joining us on an Aggie Adventures journey this year!

Mission

The mission of the Aggie Adventures travel program is to provide travel opportunities that combine adventure, culture and education to alumni, family and friends of UC Davis and the University of California community.

Program

Aggie Adventures is designed for those who have the university in common and who are lively, inquisitive, and eager to broaden their cultural and intellectual horizons. All tour members are expected to enjoy traveling as a group and also be tolerant of the occasional changes, delays, or minor mishaps that are to be expected from any kind of travel. Cal Aggie Alumni Association sponsorship means each tour operator has met our criteria for financial responsibility, established reputation, professional staff, quality of operation and all-around dependability. CAAA adds UC Davis connections where possible through lecturers, contact with overseas alumni, pre-departure briefings, staff coordination with tour operators, association hosts, etc. Prices are competitive and often advantageous.

Eligibility and Membership

At least one participant of each traveling party must be a CAAA member to participate in the Aggie Adventures Travel Program. (A traveling party is defined as a member, spouse and child[ren] under age 21 or a member and a guest.) Membership dues of $50 establish an annual membership with all association benefits. Travelers need not be alumni of UC Davis to join CAAA. Membership dues are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Reservations

Reservations are accepted for Aggie Adventures trips in the order in which they are received. Specific travel program brochures are typically available 8-9 months before departure. Your deposit signifies your acceptance of the final brochure terms. Balance of payment is due according to the schedule established by the tour operator, typically 75 days prior to departure.

Children

Aggie Adventures trips are designed primarily for adults who are interested in the educational and cultural aspects of travel. Some Aggie Adventures programs may be suitable for older children who have the necessary curiosity and interest. The advertised price must be paid for all children, regardless of age, and a parent or guardian must accompany those under 18.

Single Accomodations

On all tours, a limited number of single spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis for an additional fee. We will assist single travelers who want to share accommodations in finding a roommate, but if no roommate can be found, the single supplement fee will apply.

Physical Requirements

Participants in the Aggie Adventures Travel Program must be in good physical and mental health, and be able to keep up with the pace of the group. Program participants requiring extraordinary assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will provide all required assistance. Any special requirements must be noted at the time of reservation.

Travel Pace

Travel pace levels are based on criteria such as length of tour, number of cities visited, number of included activities, amount of walking as well as length of flights and land transfers.

Relaxed - Minimal walking on even surfaces
Moderate - Some walking on a variety of surfaces
Challenging - Significant amount of walking on uneven/unpaved surfaces

Cancellation and Refunds

The initial deposit for all tours is 100% refundable up to approximately 8 months before departure. After this time, tour participants are subject to cancellation policies governing the particular trip in which they are enrolled. There are no refunds for unused meals, accommodations, or other included features. Please read the cancellation clause in each trip brochure carefully. Trip cancellation insurance is offered and highly recommended.
