Join UC Davis NYC Aggies at BRIC

Join UC Davis alumni in NYC for an exclusive tour of Brooklyn Photographs, a special exhibit at BRIC House followed by food and drinks at Gotham Market At the Ashland. The tour is hosted by alumna Jackie Chang (’86), Director of Education, BRIC Arts Media.

Brooklyn Photographs brings together the work of 11 photographers who have turned their lens on the Brooklyn experience from the late 1960s to the present. Each of these photographers will present a body of work on a specific theme across numerous decade. More recent work from the last decade will explore such subjects as the rapidly gentrifying post-industrial landscape, Brooklyn artists, and the microcosm of street life visible near BRIC’s facility at the intersection of Fulton and Flatbush. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog and by public programs.

Brooklyn Brewery and NY Distillery Tours

Last year's brewery tours were amazing and we hope you can join the NY Aggies again! We will be meeting at the Brooklyn Brewery at 12 p.m. to start the public tour (get there early!). These are first come first serve tickets, so please come early if you want to take a tour. If you're interested in trying some Brooklyn Brewery beer, the tasting room will be open as well. After the tour and some beer tasting we will be making our way to the NY Distilling Co. (10 min walk) to enjoy a tour of the distillery and enjoying The Shanty (the bar at NY Distilling Co.) New York Aggies Picnic Day with Gina Werfel

Join New York Aggies as we celebrate Picnic Day with an exciting opportunity as we bring UC Davis to New York City. Accomplished UC Davis Professor of Art, Gina Werfel will be providing UC Davis alumni, parents and friends with an exclusive tour of her art exhibit consisting of textures of multiple independent "voices" or sources. She layers multiple elements to create painted universes; embedded vestiges of gestures suggest fragments of memories, glimpses inside the studio or outside her window. 

Werfel’s career began with an interest in unified landscapes which has since blossomed into fragments floating in a fluid, veiled space intriguing admirers of her work. Come learn about the inspirations of her work from Singapore to Rome as well as the amazing new Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis

New York Aggie Eats Series

Join UC Davis alumni in NYC for our upcoming NYC Aggies Eats event, where we have casual meals to meet up with fellow Aggies in NYC and get some great eats.

Ugly Kitchen is an East Village gastropub specializing in Asian fusion and Filipino cuisine. Please join us for happy hour and/or dinner. We have a table reserved for 7pm but please feel free to come earlier or stop by for drinks.

NYC Aggies Eats events provide informal opportunities to network and socialize with UC Davis alumni and friends and try some of the best food NYC has to offer. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we will do our best to accommodate. Come dressed in your favorite UC Davis attire. If you are low on Aggie gear, check out the UC Davis bookstore online.

New York: St. Nicholas Project

With the holiday seasons upon us, and we’re excited this year to select the Catholic Charities St. Nicholas Project as our New York Network holiday community service.

The St. Nicholas Project is a program that provides critical social services to families in need throughout the year. St. Nicholas Project services include nutritious meals, job readiness training, housing assistance, immigration and refugee resettlement counseling as well providing gifts for families that otherwise could not afford a Christmas gift exchange.

Volunteers are needed to shop and bag the clothes and household items at Kmart, Astor Place. Each volunteer will receive a profile of the family they are shopping for and a maximum budget.

NYC Aggies: Storm King Sculpture Park & Woodbury Commons Outlet

Enjoy the beautiful outdoors and what's left of summer at the Storm King Sculpture Park. It's the perfect place to take in the beautiful weather and visit one of the world's leading sculpture parks. Located only 1 hour north of NYC in the lower Hudson Valley, its pristine 500-acre landscape of fields, hills and woodlands of some more than 100 carefully sited sculptures will captivate you!
