About Winery: Filomena Wine Co. is based in Sonoma and focuses on making small lot, minimal intervention wines using unique grapes from some pretty special places around Northern California. They strive to source grapes from sustainably farmed vineyards with many of their growing partners practicing organic methods and planting obscure, alternative varieties. Each wine they make is from a different AVA, showcasing a variety of terroir from across the state of California. They specialize in unique varietals, featuring Cabernet Pfeffer, Vermentino, and St. Laurent.

Aggie Connection: Wine was always around, Luke’s Nona always had a bottle of bubbles in the fridge and his aunt and uncle had vines in their backyard that were originally planted in 1908. His journey at UC Davis started in 2007 as a Biology major, with his sights set on forensics. During his Freshman year, a student advisor recommended Introduction to Winemaking, the class turned out to be life-changing and Luke officially switched majors at the beginning of Junior year and never looked back.

Kathleen grew up in Marin County and attended UC Davis to study Nutrition, which is where she and Luke met.  Her passion for food and cooking is a perfect complement to Luke’s winemaking world.  In addition to lending the occasional harvest hand (and/or foot), Kat is the designated Filomena photographer, website designer, logistics coordinator and sales liaison.
