Kale Wines

About Winery: Kale Wines is a small-production Napa Valley winery founded in 2008 by Kale and Ranko Anderson. The winery focuses on distinctive vineyard sites and expressive, site-driven wines, combining traditional winemaking with a highly analytical, data-driven approach emphasizing balance, structure, texture, and long-term development in bottle. Kale also works with select wineries through his consulting practice, bringing the same technical and quality-focused approach to outside projects.

Aggie Connection: Kale Anderson ’02 and Ranko Anderson ’01 are both UC Davis alumni whose careers and family have remained closely connected to Northern California and the wine industry.  Kale earned a B.S. in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis in 2002. Originally entering UC Davis on a pre-med path, he discovered wine through an introductory course and shifted his focus toward viticulture, enology, and the science of winemaking. Since graduating, he has built his career in Napa Valley across winemaking, vineyard development, and cooperage research, combining the scientific foundation he developed at UC Davis with more than two decades of practical winemaking experience.
