The College of Engineering is advancing human health – one of the college's strategic research impact areas – through innovative, multidisciplinary research in collaboration with the Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine and the UC Davis Health System. From understanding how the brain makes decisions to advancements in bionic prosthetic limbs for children and adults, our faculty are engineering a better world for all. Learn about this research and see demonstrations of the future of neuroengineering and prosthetic limbs.

Karen Moxon, founding co-director emerita of the Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine and biomedical engineering professor will discuss her latest results in understanding the neural computations which underly human decision-making and how this knowledge can enable the development of the next generation of ‘neuroprosthetics’ for neuropsychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, and addiction.
Jonathon Schofield, principal investigator for the BEAR Lab and mechanical and aerospace engineering professor will share about exciting advancements in bionic prosthetic limbs capable of direct communication with the human nervous system and how modern engineering methodologies and innovative strategies can help ensure accessibility to these advance systems.
