Alumni Wine Host

David Pearson graduated from UC Davis in 1984 with a degree in Enology and Fermentation Science and earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1994. He had served on the UC Davis Foundation Board, and hosted a previous Aggie Adventures trip to France in 2017.

David brings over two decades of leadership and expertise in luxury wine and is the current Maison President of Joseph Phelps Vineyards in Napa Valley. Prior to Joseph Phelps, David was the CEO of Opus One for 16 years, a world class joint venture between Robert Mondavi Winery of Napa Valley and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux.

Wine Events

Alongside guest wine host David Pearson '84, travelers will experience guided wine tastings of premium alumni wine, UC Davis made wine, and wines produced from the storied vineyards of the Rhine Valley.

On shore, passengers will visit and taste at the historic Schloss Vollrads (left) in Rheingau, with over 800 years of winemaking heritage and considered one of the world's best wineries. We are also working to confirm visits to additional wineries and a regional wine school with a strong connection to UC Davis, depending on our final group size.

A combination of the superb wine host, quality of wines to taste, unique wine experiences on board and on shore, and wine enthusiasm of your fellow travelers, make this cruise a rare opportunity to immerse yourself into one of the world's great wine regions.
