A Team of Students Trained and Ready to Help your First-Year Student Succeed

Did you know all first-year students have a First-Year Experience Peer Mentor?

It’s true!  We know that the transition into UC Davis is challenging, and the First-Year Experience (FYE) program is here to help.

FYE Peer Mentors are one source of support for first year and transfer students as they transition into life at UC Davis. FYE Peer Mentors are current students who meet with first year students to answer questions, share experiences, and offer suggestions peer-to-peer.

Peer Mentors are current UC Davis students who are trained to assist students in all four colleges. First-Year Experience Peer Mentors can help your student:

  • Prepare for academic advising appointments and pass times
  • Strategize for test taking and studying
  • Help create solutions to common academic concerns
  • Navigate campus resources
  • Understand classroom expectations and share success strategies
  • Connect with student organizations, research opportunities, internships, and jobs
  • Find their community on campus
  • Use online campus systems like OASIS, uAchieve, Schedule Builder, and Canvas
  • Remind you academics can be difficult at UC Davis and there are people here who want to support you!

If your student isn’t sure who their peer mentor is, encourage them to use the online survey linked below to easily locate their FYE Peer Mentor.
