Repaying Loans

Congratulations to the Class of 2023! There are several conditions that require the repayment of loans which include (but are not limited to) enrollment less than 6 units, cancellation or withdrawal, and graduation. Make sure to check in with your students to know if there are any loans that need to be repaid.

Exit counseling helps students understand their rights and responsibilities as a borrower and must be completed before they withdraw, graduate, or drop below half-time attendance (even if transferring to another school). Students can complete their Federal Direct Student Loans exit counseling by visiting StudentAid.gov. A separate exit counseling session will be required by Student Accounting for institutional loans.

Loan billing is not handled by UC Davis meaning you or your student will need to contact your loan servicer(s) regarding repayment of your loan(s). For general information related to loan repayment, click here.

In addition to student loans, direct PLUS loans, also known as Parent PLUS loans, may be an additional loan to prepare for repayment, if applicable. For additional information related to the Parent PLUS loan, click here.
