The UC Davis Bookstore will be hosting a trio of happy hours for Aggie families on September 19-21 from 5-8 p.m.

Two informative events this September to welcome new parents to UC Davis

As summer winds down, there’s a buzz of activity building on campus with preparations for the new school year and the return of students. It’s an exciting time for students, and a great opportunity for parents to acquaint themselves with all that UC Davis offers to keep their students healthy, safe, and successful.

To start the school year off right, I encourage new students to take advantage of First-Year Aggie Connections. It’s an interactive program for all new freshmen, transfer, and international students, and an excellent way for students to meet people, build community, learn about the campus, and get involved. I also like to direct parents and their students to the multiple resources available on campus, such as the Pantry and Aggie Eats food truck, the Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center, and Aggie Mental Health, just to name a few.

There are two informative events this September that I will be attending, and I encourage Aggie parents new to campus to join me. The first event is the Family Fellows: New Family Virtual Welcome on Thursday, September 7 at 6 p.m. This virtual event is a great opportunity for parents to hear from campus leaders and learn more about the resources and programs available to help our students be successful from day one. Parents will also learn how they can engage with other parents and programs on campus, and have their questions answered by campus leadership.

The other event I’m excited about is a trio of happy hours hosted by the Aggie Parent and Family Association during Aggie Family Move-In week on September 19-21 from 5-8 p.m. at the UC Davis Bookstore. The bookstore will be open to Aggie families, offering an opportunity to walk around, peruse UC Davis merchandise and mingle. I will be at the Family Fellows table until 7 p.m. each evening, visiting with parents, answering questions, and sharing how parents can engage more with the university. So please swing on by the table and say hello. I can’t wait for the start of the school year and the chance to share my Aggie pride with new and returning UC Davis parents!

With warm regards,

Cari
