Would your student be a good Academic Peer Mentor?

The New Student Academic Services unit in Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) will be kicking off recruitment for the 2023-24 Academic Peer Mentor position.    

Academic Peer Mentors are one source of support for first year, transfer, and continuing students as they transition into and through college.  Academic Peer Mentors are current students who meet one-on-one with new students to answer questions, share experiences and offer suggestions.  

In addition to being a mentor and resource for other students, this position provides a great opportunity for Academic Peer Mentors to gain valuable transferrable skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving, which are attributes employers want to see on college students’ resumes.  

If you think your student would be a great candidate and interested in this opportunity, encourage them to attend an information session to learn more and to apply!  

Applications will open on Wednesday November 27, 2023 and close for priority review on Monday, January 15, 2023.  Students can apply on Handshake.
