Chancellor’s Fellows work to preserve Chinook salmon in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta
The faculty we have here at UC Davis is truly inspirational. And among the most impressive are the Chancellor’s Fellows—early career faculty members recognized for their outstanding research and who carry the chancellor’s imprimatur for five years.
Chancellor’s Fellows receive a $25,000 award that helps them advance promising aspects of their current research that they couldn’t otherwise afford to pursue. Often these research projects also provide students with career-building lab experience as well.
Dr. Anne Todgham, professor and chair of the Department of Animal Science, and Dr. Nann Fangue, professor and chair of the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology, are two Chancellor’s Fellows making a profound impact. Todgham and Fangue combined their awards to advance their work in wildlife preservation and restoration, with a focus on saving the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its Chinook salmon.
“Having funds sets aside for undergraduate research is critical, whether that’s funding their stipends, helping with tuition or you know giving them some funding to think about the research, it’s very important,” Todgham says.
The UC Davis Parents Fund makes the Chancellor’s Fellows awards possible each year. Please know that your support for the Parents Fund is crucial to advancing UC Davis research and teaching excellence.
