UC Davis Writing Center Expands Student Writing Support
The UC Davis Writing Center expands its services to support and empower student writers at any stage in the writing process.
Services include writing support for entry-level, first-year and upper-division writing courses, personal statements and application guidance and small group creative writing sessions.
“We’re thrilled to continue growing our services to provide the UC Davis community with more opportunities to engage with writing and receive writing support,” said Writing Center Director Erica Cirillo-McCarthy. “All writers benefit from sharing ideas with and getting feedback from other writers. We see the Writing Center as an integral part of every Aggie’s strategy for success.”
The Writing Center, which launched in fall 2023, is a university-wide center supporting undergraduate, graduate and professional students as well as postdoctoral scholars, faculty, instructors and staff.
The center offers workshops and seminars on various subjects throughout the quarter. The appointment system allows for students to schedule one-on-one consultations or can drop in for advising during business hours. The Center provides extended hours, which include weekends and evenings. Both in-person and online appointments are available.
The center schedules new events each quarter and announces the events on its website. Offerings include workshops and writing events, personal statement writing workshops, Aggie love letters and creative writing groups.
The center employs more than 20 writing consultants. The consultants offer a wide range of writing across many topics and fields, including animal biology, engineering and communications. Consultants’ backgrounds are unique, creating opportunities for students to connect with staff who align with their career and personal interests as well.
The Writing Center is on the fourth floor of the Teaching and Learning Complex.
